I’m not hating just stating some facts. Facebook has over 800 million users and adds an estimated 700,000 users each day. This is 1 in every 8 people on the planet with half being logged on every day.  There are 650,000 status updates every single minute. 48% of 18-34 year olds check Facebook when they wake up, with 28% doing so before even getting out of bed. Over 70% of web users in the US are on Facebook. Yet, there are some 6000 people groups who have never heard the name of Christ. What does this say about what we are communicating? Or about what is important in our lives? I’m just sayin’!

Psalm 139:13-14 For You formed my inward parts; You wove me in my mother’s womb.  I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Wonderful are Your works, And my soul knows it very well. Your word I have treasured in my heart, That I may not sin against You.

Yesterday marked the 39th anniversary of Row vs. Wade in the U.S. Since the legalization of abortion it is estimated that 50-53 million children have been lost.  This equates to over 3,000 per day for almost 4 decades making abortion one of the most common elective procedures performed in America. The total amounts to the entirety of a generation. Pray this week for a change in direction for our country and for forgiveness from our sin as a people.

This is how it should be as we read God’s word every day. [25% of evangelical Christians never read the Bible] Psalm 119 gives some 42 different admonishments concerning God’s word alone. Do you think it is important to read scripture? Do you think it might be beneficial to your walk as a follower of Christ? Make time this week for God’s word.

Proverbs 1:7 - The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction.

We talked yesterday about regaining a passion for our first love [which is the love of Christ] in 2012. So, where do we start? We begin with a healthy perspective of the fear of the LORD. This word fear is less about being scared and more about an awe and proper reverence of God almighty. For a believer, it is easy to see and say that God is in control. The intersection of life comes when we seek to comprehend what we see and learn from our mistakes. As we begin 2012, desiring a great love relationship with God start this week in awe and wonder of the mighty God we serve.
